National Maritime Museum

About NMM

The National Maritime Museum`s collection contains over 2 million objects connected with the sea, sailing and timekeeping. The museum has the most important holdings in the world on the history of Britain at sea, including maritime art, maps, manuscripts, ship models and plans and scientific and navigational instruments. The 100,000 books in its possession, some dating back to the 15th century, make NMM the world`s largest maritime historical reference library.

The museum is committed to improving access to its collections - entrance to the museum is free and over 7500 objects are now available to view online at its website.
